Last Friday morning we enjoyed a great five mile fun run with Stroehmann out in Horsham, Pennsylvania. BoMF piled into a few cars to drive north where we were greeted with birthday balloons and hats to celebrate our upcoming 4th birthday! Despite it storming through the night, we enjoyed perfect running weather.

It was a smooth 2.5 miles out and then 2.5 miles back on the power line trail. We were able to enjoy the quiet air and green foliage that sometime seem rare in Philadelphia proper. Carlos finished up his run by skipping through the finish line and Esterlina crossed while dancing and clicking her heels. Everyone was greeted by “Grampa” and with water at the finish line.

We enjoyed some post race birthday cake and breakfast with the good people of Stroehmann. We are so thankful for their enthusiasm and incredibly generosity. Not only did the company make a donation to BoMF, they also hosted a Sneaker Day. It was wonderful to see so many associates in sneakers supporting us and helping us achieve our mission. We can’t wait to see them again for 20in24 (and you for that matter)! If you haven’t already done so, either register to run or volunteer at the 4th Annual Stroehmann Back on My Feet 20in24, www.20in24.com.

Despite daytime temperatures in the 90s, two ultra marathon course records fell at the Third Annual Stroehmann Back on My Feet 20in24 Race Event, which also proved to be the largest yet.
More than 2,000 people converged on Lloyd Hall near Philadelphia’s picturesque Boathouse Row for the 24-hour event over the weekend. Roughly 1,400 of them were runners prepared to take on the 8.4 mile Schuylkill River loop in one of several races. The event raised $250,000 for Back on My Feet, the running-based program to combat homelessness.
Serge Arbona, 45, retained the Lone Ranger crown, besting 250 other ultra marathon participants to win his third 24-hour distance title, breaking his own course record by running 146.75 miles.
“I pushed myself harder this year,” said Arbona, of Parkville, MD. “I hope to be back and do the same next year.”

Ultra-marathoner Juliane Holz got a lot of attention during the Third Annual Stroehmann Back on My Feet 20in24.
Holz, who ran 89 miles last year and 76.104 in 21 hours this year, did interviews with NBC 10, CBS 3 and KYW 1060 News Radio because of her goal to break 100 miles, experience volunteering with Back on My Feet Philadelphia’s Ridge Avenue team and, sure, her sunny disposition.
Because we wanted a little insight into running for 24 hours, we spoke to Holz, too. Below, she shares her experience with us on video before, during and after the race.
