On Saturday, June 4th several of our team members played volleyball at Rash Field in the Inner Harbor.  There was some good-humored “trash talking” and intense competition, but no hurt feelings at the end of the day.  The general consensus was that this was a great event and we should do it again!

After working hard for several months, Mike B. got his EDP (External Diploma Program). Mike’s not sure of his next step yet, but college looks like an option.  Along with that, the team just found out that Steven W. was working on his GED behind the scenes and just got it!  He would also like to attend college and is working on his future plans.  Congrats, Mike and Steven!Because the team is so big right now, no new members were taken on for June.  New members will be brought on in July.

There were several more great accomplishments this month!  Dave H. hit 25 miles with the team and Eric L. got his 50 mile medal.  Jimmy M. and Steven W. hit big milestones with 100 miles, while Moses hit a big milestone as well with 175 miles!

On Sunday, June 12th, our very own Moses J. took part in the Metro Torchbearer 5k and came in 3rd place overall with a time of 19:54!  This was a PR for Moses as his times just keep getting faster!  Way to go Moses!

The Baltimore 10 miler was a great race weekend.  On Friday, June 17th, there was a pasta party with all 5 teams at Christopher Place.  On Saturday, June 18th, the guys did a great job to beat the heat and run strong races.  Mike B. ran 1:34:58, Jimmy M. ran 1:24:40, Barry B. ran 1:42:40 and Mike H. ran 1:16:48.  Great job guys!

Shoe size: 10

Number of miles: 96

What has been your best moment since joining BoMF?: Running six miles on a Saturday team run. It was my longest run and several of my teammates were there to support me.

What has been the biggest challenge you have faced with running?: Getting up early every morning.

What is a goal you want to achieve in the next three months?: I want to make a decision on what to take in college.

What do you think about when you’re running?: I enjoy running with the positive people that surround me, so I think of positive things. I use my running to help me grow.

What’s the next race you’re doing with the BoMF crew?: Sweet Air Trail Race

“Steven is always smiling! He has this energy and great attitude that he carries with him everywhere he goes. Not only has Steven been dedicated to running with the team, he has been involved in the team events and really enjoys what BoMF has to offer. Steven has gathered ‘fans’ on the team because of his positive attitude. On the day of his longest run, he had a crew running with him and enjoying every minute of the journey. “It was quite an accomplishment for him. I can’t wait to see Steven push those boundaries and continue to grow!” – Rob Carfagno, team leader
