Sheila Dennis had another fantastic month.  On June 4th, we headed to Moorestown, NJ to run the 8k and the 1 mile fun run/walk.  We raced through beautiful residential neighborhoods while the ladies picked out their future homes. Jackie, Michelle, Dawn, Esterlina, Jesse and George all successfully completed the 8k with non-residents Laura, Stephanie, and Sue cheering them on.  This was Esterlina’s first race, and she only joined the team in May!  Eleanor and Wilma also completed their first race, the 1 mile walk.  It was a wonderful day for team Sheila Dennis, and the ladies are already excited to race again.

This month we got to embrace our inner cheerleaders and dancers!  On June 18th, the team headed to Lemon Hill in Fairmount Park for the Back on My Feet picnic.  The team came together and worked very hard for weeks to prepare for the biggest event: the team cheer competition. Resident of the month Eleanor volunteered to be cheer captain and helped her teammates practice and perfect their dance moves.  When it came time to perform, we had a ball!  We won the cheer competition and more importantly, we came together as a team and showed everyone what team Sheila Dennis is all about. Our cheer routine will most likely make more appearances at future events.

We also just welcomed three new resident members to the team, Lisa, Rhoda and Tameka!  The new ladies are all very excited to be a part of the team and are already logging 2 mile runs! Watch out boys, we CAN do it!

Resident member of the month: Eleanor

When Eleanor has an opinion, she’ll make it known. Eleanor uses her powerful voice and outgoing personality to influence her team in a positive light.  She is a great friend and always takes care of her fellow teammates.  As cheer captain, she led her team to victory at the Back on My Feet picnic cheer competition.  Eleanor is really getting back on her feet! She was recently accepted to the Philadelphia OIC program to study housekeeping.

Non-Resident member of the month: Kris

Now that Kris is no longer our Team Leader, she can finally be our non-resident of the month, and no one deserves it more than her!  Kris was our very first Team Leader and she made team Sheila Dennis what it is today.  As Team Leader, Kris guided the ladies with a fun, positive attitude and relentless enthusiasm.  She taught the team to run with heart and to always believe in themselves.  She led the team for over eight months while juggling a busy career and family life.  The team was very lucky to be led by Kris for so long, and she continues to inspire us every week.
