After the excitement of March, it was nice to settle down into a nice groove for April. Between the BoMF birthday celebrations, the Kelly St. Patrick’s Day 5k and the Nikia Nippy Nor’easter Half Marathon & Relay, ARW celebrated its one year anniversary on March 3rd! Congrats to all our team members who made our first year strong – it just keeps getting better!!

Speaking of festive events, American Rescue Workers announced the new core position: Next Steps Core! After a year as the ARW Team Leader, Patrick Range easily stepped into this new role where he will follow our residential members and alumni, working to remove any barriers to help them realize their goals. We are so glad he stuck around – we know he just couldn’t part with his Team Rescue Rangers. ARW also welcomed their new Team Leader, Carrie Daniels. Carrie is excited to continue the energy of the ARW crew.

Recent resident additions have been a breath of fresh air! We welcome Floyd, Harold, and Quentin (Q) and their unfailing participation in morning runs and races. They are set out to break some kind of record with their attendance and miles: Floyd 100% & 67.8 miles, Harold 97% & 45.8 miles, and Q 95% & 23.6 miles. Woohoo! Joe made 98% attendance with 291.1 miles ~ that’s like running from Baltimore to Ocean City…..and BACK! Go Joe!! Our morning prayer circle is never the same without Joe’s powerful bass. Kevin started a great job but unfortunately his hours do not allow him to make many of the weekday runs so he joins us on the Saturday runs. Kevin is at 95% attendance with 120.7 miles. Kevin, Floyd, and Q are training hard and excited for the Baltimore 10 miler in June!! Jacob was deployed in April but many of us still keep in touch with him through email and IM. Last but not least – Darius was inducted as an official BoMF Alumni on April 27th. So many people were in attendance – the room was busting at the seams! Congrats to everyone!

We were well represented in the Nikia Nippy Nor’easter relay by Floyd, Harold, and Joe. This was Floyd and Harold’s first race! The Berger Cookie Challenge was a big hit and we are sorry to say that our own Ryan Green was sorely embarrassed by pint-sized Megan!! Even though we didn’t pick up any new members at the Bruckenthal 5k (Hey Ryan!), Floyd nabbed first place in his age division with a little over 24 minutes! Only his second race!!! Q was right behind him & Kevin close at his heels at about 28 minutes. Harold rounded out the bunch with 37 minutes. Go TEAM!!
