Spring weather has finally come to Philadelphia this month along with some great updates for the RWA Dragons!
Team RWA appeared at the Run for Jake race in Elkins Park, earlier this month. Cliff dropped several minutes off his 5k race PR and Maurice had a strong finish even though the race was shortly after his half-marathon completion! We had some non-res member participation in the Boston Marathon this month with Kai and Tom running some solid times. Great job, guys!
The rest of the Philadelphia Chapter and National Staff paid a visit to a nearby running location for RWA with the BoMF Chapter run at City Hall! There was an incredible turnout and a lot of our members enjoyed getting to run with other teams.
Terrence recently completed the Back on My Feet program, it was great to see him back out these past couple of months! Tony just signed the lease to his new apartment and he is moving in at the end of this month. Way to go, Tony! James and Maurice aced their forklift certification; those were the exact words we were told at the morning circle. They are both very excited about the opportunities that will come with this certification.
Team RWA is getting very excited for the Broad Street run on May 1st. Our members have been training many months for this race and we’re all looking forward to getting out there either to run or cheer!
Our non-res member of the month is Bess! Bess has been with Back on My Feet for a long time and she has always been a huge support system for our team. She is out with us for runs nearly every morning and will run any amount of mileage to keep a teammate company. We are all thankful that Bess is willing to drive runners to training runs or weekend races! Bess recently got her dream job out in Chicago and will be moving there at the end of the summer. While we are sad to have to say goodbye to her soon, it’s nice to know that she will never leave the BoMF family. She plans on looking up the BoMF Chicago teams when she arrives!
Our res-member of the month is Cliff! This month, there wasn’t a doubt in my mind about the member of the month. Since Cliff joined the team in March, he has been one of the biggest motivators on our team. From leading stretches to running with other BoMF members at the end of the race, Cliff will do anything to help another individual. He has strong goals for himself this year and plans on racing in the Broad Street run only two months after starting BoMF. He has pushed himself and encouraged others to reach their potential. We look forward to seeing him progress as he continues with BoMF!
