February has been an exciting month for Team RWA. Bill passed on the Team Leader role to me (Sarah) at our February team meeting; it has been an exciting transition for the team! Michelle has become our new Volunteer Coordinator while Jessie and Krista have remained in their roles of Coach and Organizer, respectively.
We have had some awesome res member performances this month including a race debut for Joe in the Frostbite 5 miler in Ambler, PA. He conquered the 5 mile race with a solid running form! Running along side non-res member and Team Coach, Jessie, the two dragons even stopped for pushups mid-race. This seemed entirely appropriate for Joe, who often prefers pushups to stopping to rest. Maurice also held his own for the 5 mile run with an impressive finish in the front pack. Other exceptional non-res finishes include: Bess, Michelle, Shira, Kai, Leigh Ann, and former RWA Team Leader, Nate! Thank you to everyone who drove to the race, we greatly appreciate it!
Team RWA is training hard to prepare for the Caesar Rodney Half-Marathon/5k in March and the Broad Street Run not too far in the future. Big things are ahead for the Dragons!
Our Dragon of the month for February is Maurice!
Since his first run with Team RWA, Maurice has taken a liking to longer distances. He has completed two races so far with strong finishes each time. Even with his injury at the Pickle Run, Maurice still pushed through the grueling 4.5 mile trail run! He plans to increase his racing distance for his next BOMF race in March; running the Caesar Rodney Half-Marathon in Delaware! Good luck, Maurice!
