Each year, employees of Accenture’s Washington DC office dedicate one day to learn about their role in the local community and volunteer to help DC residents. While most other employees were sleeping in on a nice 3-day weekend, many of the folks over at Accenture were rising at the crack of dawn to participate in a Back on My Feet morning run.
On Monday October 11th, many of the BOMF DC teams were joined by over 60 Accenture volunteer runners, who welcomed them with open arms into the morning circle. Immediately following the run, an additional host of Accenture employees volunteered their time during a breakfast and professionalism seminar, highlighting the ‘Skills to Succeed’ theme of the company’s pledge to equip 250,000 people around the world with the skills to get a job or build a business by 2015. Founder and president, Anne Mahlum, ran with N Street Village that morning and later gave a speech during Accenture’s meeting at Lisner Auditorium.
Over breakfast, teams discussed what it means to ‘Get Your Game On,’ which was the theme of the community teach portion of the day. Accenture employees offered advice to BOMF members regarding what employers are looking for, how to be successful in the workplace and interviewing tips.
Then, later in the day, even more volunteers came out to help with property beautification at some of the facility sites, including painting and gardening.
Thanks so much to everyone over at Accenture for supporting Back on My Feet in so many ways. We were honored to be a part of this year’s Day of Service and look forward to continually serving one another. Click here for more information on Accenture or here for their Day of Service.
