801 East was our gracious host for a spirited evening of 3v3 basketball the last Saturday in July.  It is certainly an event that we would like to have there again.

The team at 801 East has been going through a lot of changes lately, with several members moving on to other facilities or out to housing on their own!  Some of 801’s most enthusiastic members make the trek from other parts of the city to still run with their team!  Truly a testament to the support and encouragement that our members receive at the morning runs.

Harold T. has been chosen as 801 East’s residential member of the month.  According to the team leader, Amanda S., “He always shows up with a smile on his face, has really jumped into running and never missed a single event or run! Plus, he just got accepted into Georgetown’s paralegal program!”

Harold is making great steps to move his life forward, and with over 100 miles under his belt he’s excelling at running!  Harold’s paralegal program starts very soon, and we’ll all be cheering for him as he moves forward with that part of his life!  Harold also participated in a group meeting held at the Back On My Feet office with Anne Malhum to discuss the programs and goals of BOMF in an effort to make this an even more effective program going forward.

Carolyn M. was picked as 801 East’s non-res member of the month.

“She NEVER misses a run and is helping on the longer runs to train the guys for their first half marathon! Plus, she gets up extra early to go out of her way to pick up one of our res members who no longer lives at 801. Plus, she’s always smiling and energetic ,“ said Team Leader Amanda S.

With Carolyn’s extra effort members who have moved out of 801 East are still able to run with their team and maintain that stable community of friends to support them as they move through each day.
