A new bar has been set for Back on My Feet social events, thanks to the Emery House 4th of July BBQ! There were flags! and balloons! and pictures! and confetti! and (best of all) cornhole!
For a few hours on Sunday July 4th, the Emery House BOMF team gathered at the facility to celebrate all things America and all things Back on My Feet.
Dave & Kathy M., non-res volunteers at Emery House, took it upon themselves to organize and put on a a big BBQ party over the holiday weekend. There were three grills going, with grillmaster Johnny Q. manning them all! Staff and other residents of Emery House (not involved in BOMF) were invited to the BBQ as well, and it was a hit!
“This was the best food I’ve ever had — I can’t wait till the next holiday,” said Emery House resident and BOMF member Jerome F.
More than 50 people were at the party, eating, playing games and, best of all, getting to know one another. Many stayed for Kathy M.’s famous egg-spoon race and eventually to watch the fireworks amid our nation’s capitol. A huge thanks to Kathy & Dave and everyone who made the event possible.
