By the middle of 2011, Back on My Feet will be combating homelessness in eight of the largest cities in the country.
Today, Friday, June 18, 2010, during a live webcast at noon, our Founder and President Anne Mahlum announced that the first three expansion chapters will be in Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta and Minneapolis-St. Paul next year.
See the official press release here. Check out our expansion page, more closely detailing the decision here.
More than 700 people suggested their city for our expansion in 2011. We’ll be expanding to two more cities in the latter half of 2011, so if we aren’t landing in your hometown yet, tell us why we should get there next.
Particular mentions need to be shared with groups in Houston, in Portland and New York City for their passionate support of our mission and encouragement for their respective cities. It’s not the right fit immediately, but our Vice President of Growth and Expansion Sandi Maro has made clear that we’ll be in each of those cities — and many others — in the near future.
